ABOUT JEMS
The studio has been operating incessantly since the '80s., from 1988 under the name JEMS Architekci. From the start it co-authored the trend aiming at restoring Polish designing culture, impacting the image of Polish cities - mainly Warsaw - implementing its ideas also abroad. Each project if treated in an exceptional manner, regardless of whether it is a low-budget housing development or a high-profile facility. The most significant thing is to embed the investment into the local character of the space. Culture, history, tradition or context of the location constitute sources of inspiration. Designed facilities appeal to the timeless values: order, fascination for the materials, light, merging of forms. Projects implemented by the studio include The Interna- tional Conference Centre in Katowice, Raczyński Library in Poznań or Agora's building in Warsaw.

Studio's task was to create a coherently implemented development of the eastern frontage of Bobrowiecka Street. In 2006 the first prestigious building was erected, namely Bobrowiecka 6. Next to it another office building, Bobrowiecka 8, will be constructed adjacent to the housing estate of apartment buildings, namely Bobrowiecka 10. Thanks to this the city will be enriched with a nearly two-hundred-metre-long, elegant arcade with service outlets, food courts and two large yards. The first one between Bobrowiecka 6 and 8 is a specific gallery of art featuring a collection of sculptures from the Starak Foundation's collection. The second yard between Bobrowiecka 8 and 10 in addition to a display of art will become an impressive centre of social life with its cafés and restaurants. Also the inside of the office building Bobrowiecka 8 will be open to the residents with the shopping arcade accessible for everyone. The elegant stairs will lead to the first floor where is art garden is located. From the garden, two green patios on the ground floor will be visible. In each of them, there is a water surface. The goal of the project was to create a building with rhythmical architecture which apart from comfortable office space will also form a perfect place for displaying works of art. What is also interesting is the geometry of this facility housing nearly 45,000 m2 of floor area. It is composed of four blocks joined by glazed staircases - peculiar observation decks overlooking the four directions of the city.
